Rafael Moneo and Manuel de Solà-Morales designed L’Illa Diagonal as a “horizontal skyscraper”, completed in 1993 in Les Corts and awarded the FAD architecture prize the following year. Inside, a flexible office of more than 1,800 m² brings together coworking and furnished offices. Cleaning is included. Post is sorted for each member at reception, and everyone gets an individual locker. Step-free access makes the space easy for people with reduced mobility, and members meet at after-work drinks and networking sessions.
A desk in a coworking space is €400/month and private offices start at €500 per desk, with no minimum term and one month’s notice. The tram stops right outside: three Trambaix lines serve the L’Illa stop, and around six bus lines pull up on the avenue in front. Les Corts and Maria Cristina metro stations (L3) are eight or nine minutes on foot, with FGC Les Tres Torres about twelve. Lunch is a matter of walking through to the shopping centre’s restaurants in the same complex, and a public garden fills the rest of the block behind the building for a quieter break.
